  2. A prominent theme throughout Animal farm is the representation of communism. Communism is defined as "a form of socialism that abolishes private ownership." The novel is designed to explain Russian communism by reenacting it, and uses animals as an example. However, it proves that communism is not an effective form of government because such as when Napoleon overthrows Snowball, he soon has entire control, without any input form any of the other animals, and are run by his command.

  3. A theme in the book is corruption. Napoleon is a prime example of corruption. When he first becomes one of the leaders, he had the interests of the animals at heart. But, after overthrowing Snowball, it becomes clear that he has become corrupt and only has his interest in mind. He not only makes new rules to fit his needs, but changes old rules and forces the other animals to believe that they were always like that. His corruption is the source of the conflict of the book.
